Honky Tonk Angels

"The Honky Tonk Angels," now out-of-print, dealt with the rocketing fame of country's first female superstar Kitty Wells, whose premiere Decca release "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels," became the first #1 by a country female and went on to chart pop and sold more than a million records. She became both queen of the jukeboxes and of country music, thanks to additional #1 hits "One By One" and "Heartbreak USA," while her husband Johnnie Wright was half of the hottest 1950s' duo Johnnie & Jack, who hit the top of the charts with "(Oh, Baby Mine) I Get So Lonely," plus their signature song "Poison Love." Currently its author Walt Trott is putting finishing touches on the sequel "Makin' Believe," also scheduled to be a Nova Book release.
